Allyn Coady is the Company Director for S.A.S Transition, specialising in electrical engineering and project management. With a background in oil and gas, Allyn recently transitioned into the data center industry, where he now focuses on the safe and efficient commissioning of electrical systems. His extensive experience allows him to identify and address competency gaps, ensuring high standards of safety and procedural adherence in
all projects.

Aim of the day

Allyn’s aim for the day was to energise a transformer, a critical task that involved several preparatory steps. After completing all commissioning and quality checks, Allyn coordinated with his team to perform a 5kV Megger test to assess the integrity of the cables before energisation. Allyn emphasises the importance of safety protocols, such as obtaining an electrical permit and ensuring all earth connections were removed prior to energising the
system. Working alongside his colleague Florin, Allyn demonstrated a meticulous approach to testing and energisation, ultimately contributing to the overall safety and reliability of the electrical infrastructure.
